St. Patrick’s Day is always a festive moment in Los Angeles, where the city’s rich cultural diversity invites Angelenos of all backgrounds to join in celebrating this beloved Irish holiday. From coastal communities to urban parks, the holiday is marked with music, movement, and plenty of green.

One of the highlights of the St. Patrick’s Day weekend is the Hermosa Beach St. Patrick’s Day Parade, taking place on March 14. This long-running local tradition kicks off at 11:00 am and brings the streets of Hermosa Beach to life with festive floats, marching bands, dancers, and community groups.

Set against a sunny beach backdrop, the parade is a favorite for families and visitors alike, offering a classic yet uniquely Southern California way to celebrate the holiday.

Also happening on March 14 is the St. Paddy’s Day Lucky Run Los Angeles, a fun and energetic 5K and 10K race that combines fitness with festive spirit. Participants of all ages show up decked out in green, making it a lively and feel-good way to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day while staying active.

2 – Spring Is Really in The Air

Description:

Spring officially begins this month, and here in Los Angeles, the season arrives with blooming gardens, and that unmistakable shift in light that makes everything feel so fresh.

It’s the perfect time to slow down and create meaningful moments, whether that means capturing beautiful family portraits in golden hour light, planning a quiet afternoon with your other half, or simply stepping outside to breathe in the change of season.

Gather your loved ones and plan a simple outdoor picnic at the beach, your favorite park, or even your own backyard. Los Angeles County farmers markets offer everything you need for a seasonal spread, fresh berries, wine, artisan breads, cheeses, flowers, and handcrafted desserts that turn an ordinary afternoon into something memorable.

Or support one of the many local picnic services in the area, or go outside and visit a cozy garden-inspired spot like The Trails Cafe in Griffith Park, The Garden Restaurant, and Cafe on 27 tucked away in the hills of Topanga Canyon. These great restaurants provide outdoor settings that naturally blend dining with fresh air and greenery.

For a quieter kind of beauty, consider tea time surrounded by spring blooms. The Japanese Garden at Descanso Gardens, the expansive grounds of The Huntington, the coastal elegance of The Getty Villa, and the serene pathways of The Japanese Garden offer peaceful backdrops for reflection and connection.

March in Los Angeles offers endless opportunities to welcome spring with grace, beauty, and intention.

3 – Fun Family Festivals in March

Description:

This month in Southern California brings together community, culture, and coastlines with a lineup of family-friendly festivals that celebrate everything from food to nature. The 55th Annual Dana Point Festival of Whales (March 6–8, 2026) returns to the harbor for a weekend dedicated to ocean conservation and the region’s gray whale migration.

The festival traditionally includes a parade, marine-themed exhibits, educational programs, live entertainment, ocean excursions, and waterfront activities throughout Dana Point Harbor. It’s a meaningful way for families to connect with coastal wildlife while enjoying a festive seaside atmosphere.

In Orange County, the OC Farm Festival of Tomates (March 15) celebrates gardening, agriculture, and community at Orange County Farm Supply. This tomato-focused festival features plant vendors, gardening demonstrations, educational booths, and activities designed for both seasoned growers and curious beginners.

It’s a charming daytime event that blends local agriculture with hands-on learning for families who enjoy farmers market energy and backyard inspiration.

To close out the month, head to Los Angeles for the vibrant Vegan Street Fair Los Angeles (March 28–29). This open-air street festival showcases dozens of plant-based food vendors, creative culinary pop-ups, live music, and artisan booths. This awesome event is a fun and energetic way to explore innovative food options in a casual festival setting.

4 – Your Favorite March Events at Your Favorite Theme Parks

Description:

March is an awesome time to visit your favorite theme parks.  At Knott’s Berry Farm, the beloved Boysenberry Festival (March 13 – April 12) returns with dozens of creative boysenberry-inspired dishes, desserts, and specialty drinks honoring the park’s agricultural roots.

Guests can enjoy live music, artisan craft vendors, and family-friendly entertainment throughout Ghost Town and beyond. It’s a flavorful way to celebrate spring while experiencing rides, shows, and the nostalgic charm Knott’s is known for.

Over at Disney California Adventure, the Food & Wine Festival (March 6 – April 27) transforms the park into a culinary showcase of California-inspired flavors. Festival marketplaces offer tasting-size plates and beverages curated around regional ingredients, while cooking demonstrations, beverage seminars, and live entertainment add to the experience. It’s an ideal event for guests who enjoy pairing theme park thrills with thoughtfully prepared seasonal menus and limited-time culinary offerings.

Lastly, Disneyland Park hosts Disneyland After Dark: 70 Years of Favorites on March 3 and 5. This very special after-hours celebration is honoring seven decades of iconic attractions, characters, and music.

It is a separately ticketed nighttime event that includes themed entertainment, specialty food offerings, exclusive photo opportunities, and shorter attraction wait times during the party hours.

5 – Take a Soul-Healing Spring Day Trip

Description:

If March calls you to slow down and breathe deeper, plan an evening at 123 Farm in Cherry Valley. Their beloved Spring Tea Nights feel like stepping into a countryside retreat. You can sip from a curated selection of 40+ organic teas, explore the historic Highland Springs Ranch property, and enjoy seasonal farm-to-table offerings during their Spring Tea Nights.

Enjoy this wonderful experience from March 13 to 29 and enjoy illuminated pathways, outdoor seating areas, and a relaxed countryside setting.

Our next recommendation, attend a world-class tennis tournament right here in SoCal this March. The BNP Paribas Open (March 1–15) transforms the Indian Wells Tennis Garden into one of the premier professional tennis venues in the country. This annual tournament brings together top-ranked ATP and WTA players for two weeks of international competition in a state-of-the-art outdoor stadium complex.

Guests can attend daytime and evening matches, explore sponsor activations, enjoy on-site dining options, and experience one of the largest combined men’s and women’s tournaments outside of the Grand Slams.

And lastly, my personal March favorite – The Flower Fields in Carlsbad. Opening at the beginning of March, these 50 acres of blooming beauty create one of the most colorful landscapes in Southern California. Beyond walking the vibrant rows of flowers, March brings a full calendar of special events and wellness experiences held right on the grounds.

Guests can participate in Sunset Meditation & Sound Healing, the festive Fields of Luck 5K Run, Tea in the Garden, Tai Chi at The Flower Fields, and Flower Flow Yoga surrounded by blooms. The schedule also includes floral design workshops, live music performances, and seasonal demonstrations.

You can also dine here if you wish, options include a taco trolley, pizza trolley, sweet treats, and refreshing drinks.  I hope you love all these great spring day trips!
